This is the forum post indicating the rules for our upcoming Pixelmon World Cup Tournament. While this tournament does not directly decide TheNodeMC's battlers for the Pixelmon World Cup, our staff team will be paying close attention to all contenders to determine who we would like to represent us on June 15th!
When: Saturday May 27th, 2023 at 2:00PM EST (Click me to see it in your local timezone!)
Prizes:
1st Place: $50 Store Gift Card, Special Title, 250XP Levels, $250k Pokécoins, 1x Shiny Legendary Pokémon!
2nd Place: $30 Store Gift Card, 100XP Levels, $100k Pokécoins, 1x Legend Key
3rd & 4th Place: $10 Store Gift Card, 50XP Levels, $50k Pokécoins, 1x Shiny Key
Bonus Prize: One lucky participant will be randomly selected to win a Legend Key! (You must complete all your battles to be eligible)
Tournament Format & Rules
You may notice that the PWC Format mentions Pokémon/Mechanics which do not yet exist in Pixelmon. When deciding on the format, the committee came to an agreement that the format should be future-proofed in the event that Pixelmon releases updates which implement these missing features, as we want to host this event on the latest version of Pixelmon to ensure the most variety, and the least amount of battle bugs.
Species Clause: A player can not use two Pokemon or more with the same National Pokedex number on the same team. Examples:
OHKO Clause: A Pokemon may not have the following moves in their moveset:
Moody Clause: A team can not have a Pokemon with the ability Moody.
Endless Battle Clause: Players cannot intentionally prevent their opponent's Pokémon from fainting from PP depletion and Struggle recoil.
Sleep Clause: A player may not simultaneously inflict “sleep” status on two or more opposing Pokemon. Examples:
Should any issues arise during the Tournament, such as battle bugs etc. (this tournament will *not* be automated), Brad and the management team will work to resolve them as best we can.

Clauses:
Evasion Clause: A Pokemon is prohibited from using abilities, moves, or items that can increase its evasion. This does not apply to evasion boosts gained through an opponent’s move. Examples:It is illegal for a Pokemon to gain an evasion boost through a direct mean such as Minimize or an indirect mean such as Acupressure. It is legal for a Pokemon with Contrary to gain an evasion boost if the opponent uses a move such as Sweet Scent or Defog.
Species Clause: A player can not use two Pokemon or more with the same National Pokedex number on the same team. Examples:
Bringing a Cinderace and Raboot in the same team is legal since they do not share the same National Pokedex number. It is illegal to bring a Rotom-Wash and a Rotom-Heat, or a Kantonian Raticate and an Alolan Raticate as they share the same National Pokedex number.

If a Breloom uses Spore on an opposing Pokemon, it is illegal for the player to put another opposing Pokemon to sleep until the first one wakes up. If an opponent uses Rest to self-inflict sleep, it is legal for the player to put a different opposing Pokemon to sleep.
